Michael W. Stevens is an associate in the Litigation practice of the firm's San Francisco office. Mr. Stevens' practice focuses on complex litigation, with an emphasis on antitrust and competition matters. Mr. Stevens currently represents a major manufacturer of electronic components in opt-out litigation alleging price-fixing in the market for TFT-LCD panels.

Mr. Stevens also litigates securities actions, consumer class actions, and qui tam suits. Representative clients include hedge funds, insurance companies, energy companies, executives of a telecommunications partnership, and financial services companies.

Mr. Stevens is also experienced in conducting internal investigations for FCPA compliance and defending investigations initiated by the Securities and Exchange Commission. He has extensive experience in appellate litigation, briefing matters appearing before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Stevens received his B.A. in Politics with highest honors from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2000. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, cum laude, in 2008, where he was an Executive Articles Editor for The Georgetown Law Journal. Prior to law school, Mr. Stevens worked in health care-related government affairs in Washington, D.C.

Professional and Community Involvement

Mr. Stevens is also committed to pro bono practice, and recently won asylum for a indigenous gay Guatemalan man in an adversarial Immigration Court proceeding. He has also successfully sued a California county for its unlawful administration of a support program for indigents, resulting in a settlement requiring the county to ease its application procedures and improve processing time for applicants. As part of his community involvement, Mr. Stevens is on the board of directors of AIDS Legal Referral Panel and a member of the San Francisco Leadership Committee of Lambda Legal.
