Paul Hastings Represents L’Oreal and Lancôme In Trademark Infringement Victory

New York, NY (April 24, 2006) – Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP (Paul Hastings), a leading international law firm, obtained a dismissal of all claims against L’Oreal USA, Inc. and Luxury Products, LLC (Lancôme) for trademark infringement brought by Juicy Couture, Inc. and L.C. Licensing, Inc. (Liz Claiborne), suppliers of women’s clothing and related items. The Opinion and Order was issued on April 19, 2006 by U.S. District Court Judge Denise Cote in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York.

This win permits Lancôme, a leading maker and seller of cosmetics and fragrances, to continue the use of “Juicy” in its line of lip products, Juicy Tubes (lip gloss), Juicy Rouge (lipstick), Juicy Wear (long lasting lip duo) and others. Damages of $50 – 100 million and injunctive relief sought by Juicy Couture were completely rejected.
