Office Chair: Barbara Brown
The Washington, D.C. office, which opened in 1980, was recently recognized by PLC Which Lawyer? for its Intellectual Property team. This office features many prominent lawyers who bring distinguished service from the executive and legislative branches.
Our office in the nation's capital is well-established in the Washington, D.C. legal, business, and government communities.
Our clients are our top priority and their interests come first. As a result, the Washington, D.C. office provides access to a full complement of our premier global practices. This includes:
- An Antitrust and Competition practice whose lawyers regularly appear before the Federal Trade Commission, U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division, the federal courts, and Congress.
- A Corporate practice that handles mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, banking and finance, and corporate workouts.
- An Intellectual Property practice that focuses on patent, trademarks, and trade secrets licensing; prosecution and litigation; Section 337 international IP protection; and Information Technology/eCommerce transactions and counseling.
- A Litigation practice whose litigators are recognized leaders in anticorruption and compliance, antitrust, appellate litigation, commercial litigation, intellectual property, securities litigation and enforcement, white collar litigation, and labor and employment litigation.
Community Service
The Washington, D.C. office is the official law firm sponsor of Garfield Elementary School in Southeast D.C. The school was officially adopted by the firm through the Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs Public School Partnership Project, which matches D.C. public schools with large law firms to help close the gaps in education funding and resources.
