Appellate Litigation
Paul Hastings’ Appellate practice has briefed and argued cases in federal and state courts across the country, including the United States Supreme Court. Our attorneys are called upon regularly to write amicus briefs and to advise organizations such as the United States Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Manufacturers, the California Employment Law Council and others regarding employment matters pending in Congress, state legislatures and courts around the country.
We take on some of the largest jury verdicts in the country. Recently, for example, companies retained our attorneys to handle the post-trial motions and appeals in two of California’s four largest verdicts of the year. The savings to our clients in these two cases alone exceeded $140 million.
While our services include all post-trial matters, we regularly engage in the following types of work:
- Providing legal analysis and strategy
- Preparing appellate briefs
- Preparing amicus curiae briefs
- Filing post-trial motions for new trial, remittitur, and judgment as a matter of law
- Presenting oral argument
- Negotiating settlement (if appropriate)
