John Baptist Chan is an associate of Paul Hastings’s Hong Kong Office. John advises multinational companies and international investment banks on a variety of corporate finance, capital markets and mergers and acquisitions transactions. He also advises on general corporate and commercial matters. John has significant experience acting for issuers and underwriters on domestic and international offerings, listings and placings.

His major listing experiences includes the red-chip listing of Intime Department Store (Group) Company Limited; the dual-listing of China Netcom Group Corporation (Hong Kong) Limited in Hong Kong and New York; the H-share listings of Bank of Communications Co., Ltd., Jilin Qifeng Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. and PICC Property and Casualty Company Limited.

Before joining Paul Hastings, John was a senior vice president & regional counsel of Citibank, N.A, responsible for launching of the depositary receipts programmes in Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and other Asia markets. He previously also worked in the Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and London offices of two other leading international law firms for many years. John is admitted to practice in Hong Kong and is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
