Jon Geier is a partner in the Employment practice of Paul Hastings. He represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, but focuses his practice in advising federal contractors on their obligations under Executive Order 11246 and related statutes and regulations. He assists contractors in preparing, implementing, and maintaining affirmative action plans and advising them with respect to compliance evaluations by the Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. Mr. Geier was the lead outside counsel for The Boeing Company in negotiating its nationwide settlement with the OFCCP in 1999. He has extensive experience conducting privileged diagnostics of employment processes, and advising employers on remedial strategies including diversity/inclusion programs. Mr. Geier has developed a specific expertise on pay equity analysis.
Mr. Geier also represents employers on labor issues arising under the Railway Labor Act. He has substantial experience representing and advising management on union organizing campaigns, corporate campaigns, collective bargaining and in maintaining operations through strikes. His practice also includes advising employers in labor law matters relating to corporate restructuring and litigation under Section 1113 of the Bankruptcy Code.
Mr. Geier has litigated a number of labor and employment law cases in the federal courts. He is a member of the United States Courts of Appeal for the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Seventh circuits. Mr. Geier has been a regular speaker at the annual meeting of the National Industry Liaison Group, and has been a member of the faculty for the ALI-ABA course on Airline and Railroad Labor Law.
Mr. Geier has been elected a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. He received his J.D. degree (with honors) from the National Law Center, George Washington University, where he was a member of the Law Review. Mr. Geier received both a B.A. and M.A. in History from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a member of the Bars of the State of Illinois and the District of Columbia. He is married to his high school sweetheart and the father of two children.
