Paul Grossman is a partner in the Employment practice of Paul Hastings. He represents major private employers in all aspects of employment law, including class action, wage/hour, wrongful discharge, discrimination, sexual harassment, and whistleblower cases. He is the general counsel of the California Employment Law Council (CELC), an organization of approximately 50 of California’s largest employers, which has as its mission the development of moderate employment law through amicus briefs, education, and legislative activities.
Mr. Grossman is the co-author of Lindemann & Grossman, Employment Discrimination Law, the official book of the American Bar Association in its field - the fourth edition was released in 2007. It has been cited on multiple occasions by the U.S. Supreme Court and the courts of every circuit and is generally regarded as the principal publication in its field.
The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers wrote: “The leading labour and employment counsel in the world, according to our findings, is Paul Grossman of the Los Angeles offices of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker.” In 2009, that organization named Grossman "the most highly regarded practitioner in the world." Chambers USA in 2009 rated him again as one of the top two employment litigators in California (the other is his partner, Nancy Abell). He is a founding member of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Mr. Grossman is a longtime member of the Board of Trustees of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association. He is a past president of the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles and the Chancery Club of Los Angeles.
Mr. Grossman received his B.A. degree from Amherst College in 1961, and his J.D. degree from Yale Law School in 1964, where he was a member of the board of editors of the Yale Law Journal.
