Paul Hastings Strengthens Global Funds Practice With Addition of Former JPMorgan Asset and Wealth Management Associate General Counsel
February 11, 2026
Paul Hastings LLP today announced that leading funds partner Joshua Cohen has joined the firm, further boosting its premier global funds platform and ability to advise the world’s leading asset managers on their most significant and complex matters.
Cohen brings over 20 years of experience advising clients in the structuring, formation and maintenance of open- and closed-end private investment funds. He has practiced at Sidley Austin and Kirkland & Ellis and previously held in-house roles as managing director and general counsel at Highbridge Capital Management and as global head of alternatives legal for JPMorgan Asset and Wealth Management.
“Josh brings depth of experience and an incredible network of asset managers that he advises on funds, regulatory compliance and transactional matters, further scaling our global funds practice,” said firm Chair Frank Lopez. “His practice is highly synergistic and a further expansion of market share with existing premier financial services and asset manager clients, creating significant opportunities to gain additional market share as we continue to build our premier global funds platform.”
A significant portion of Cohen’s practice focuses on providing strategic advice to asset management firms in connection with seed capital transactions and complex minority and majority investments, acquisitions and dispositions in existing firms. Since returning to private practice in 2017, he has assisted and advised in connection with the launch of private investment funds across the alternatives spectrum for institutional sponsors and private banking organizations.
Cohen is the third partner to join the firm’s industry-recognized Investment Funds & Private Capital practice this year, following the arrival of partners Serge Todorovich in New York and David Richardson in London. His addition also complements the continued expansion of Paul Hastings’ funds regulatory capabilities offered by partners Ryan Swan in Chicago and Zach Milloy in London.
Paul Hastings’ global Investment Funds & Private Capital practice advises the world’s most sophisticated asset managers, sponsors and institutional investors on private and registered funds across all major asset classes. Consistently ranked among top legal advisers in global league tables, including Private Equity Real Estate and Private Debt Investor, the firm provides market-leading counsel across fund formation, tax, and regulatory and compliance matters.
“Paul Hastings has one of the fastest-growing funds teams in the market and has established a truly deep bench of top-tier talent,” said Cohen. “I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues and am excited to leverage my private practice and in-house experience for the benefit of the firm’s broad asset manager client base, which I believe will be fertile ground for additional growth.”
