Edwin Garcia is an associate in Paul Hastings’ Intellectual Property practice in the Washington, D.C. office. His practice focuses on patent litigation and complex intellectual property disputes in federal District Courts, before the U.S. International Trade Commission and on appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Edwin represents clients in all phases of high-stakes patent litigation, including pre-suit investigation, pleadings, fact and expert discovery, claim construction, dispositive motion practice, trial, post-trial proceedings and appeal. He has tried multiple patent cases — including jury and bench trials — across multiple jurisdictions, and has experience drafting and arguing dispositive motions, Daubert challenges, Markman briefs and other key motions. He also works closely with technical experts on claim construction, infringement, invalidity and damages issues.

Edwin has represented clients in patent disputes involving a wide range of technologies, including streaming and display technologies, web conferencing, targeted content delivery, image capturing, radar sensors, barcode scanning, location services, device control and data management systems, telecommunications protocols, personal communication devices, user authentication, power supply and signal transmission technology, LED technology, wet-vacuum cleaner products, multifunction printing devices and related software. His experience also includes trade secret misappropriation matters and pro bono habeas work.

Before joining Paul Hastings, Edwin was an associate at an international law firm where he represented technology and other clients in complex patent disputes. He previously served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Jimmie V. Reyna of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and to the Honorable Marina Garcia Marmolejo of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
