Overview
Hari Pillai is a senior manager in the Life Sciences & Healthcare Consulting Group, based in the firm’s Boston office. A physician by training, Hari has over 10 years of consulting experience with both large national and boutique firms. He serves clients across the healthcare and life sciences spectrum, including health systems, hospitals, physician practices, payers, health IT and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Hari helps organizations navigate through complex regulatory and compliance challenges such as risk management, due diligence, and internal and external investigations. Additionally, he has a background supporting clients on matters of corporate strategy, growth strategy and project management.

- Led investigations and audits on behalf of external counsel, internal counsel and compliance officers to identify issues, provide recommendations on corrective actions and report as appropriate to regulatory agencies.
- Assisted organizations in conducting enterprise risk management activities including interviews and enterprise-wide surveys with key operational leaders to determine function-specific risks impacting the enterprise.
- Provided expert (clinical) skills to periodic auditing and monitoring activities on behalf of compliance programs for specialized clinical domains such as E&M coding, wound care, skilled nursing facilities and other healthcare services.
- Led corporate and growth strategy engagements across the healthcare spectrum including payers, providers and health tech to identify potential pathways for market expansion including gen-AI opportunities and uplift.
- Served as on-site interim compliance and privacy officer for a multi-hospital health system, managing daily compliance related inquiries from operational leaders and staff to ensure hospital adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Assisted large hospital system in conducting annual compliance risk assessment and redesign of compliance program to corroborate compliance program conformity to OIG guidelines, and presented updates to chief compliance and audit officer and board.
- Assisted a large health system manage HIPAA breach response, conduct breach investigations and risk assessments, and ensured organizational conformity with HHS annual and episodic reporting requirements.
- Performed buy-side and sell-side due diligence and market studies on health care assets to inform client’s investment decisions.
- Drove multiple workstreams and coordinated activities end-to-end on two drug launches for specialty pharma (ophthalmology & nephrology) and utilized data driven insights to set direction for multiple team members across over eight business units and coordinate for successful product launch.
