Overview

Jeremy Steed is of counsel in the Investigations & White Collar Defense practice at Paul Hastings and is based in the firm's Washington, D.C. office. Jeremy's practice is focused on white collar criminal defense, internal corporate investigations, compliance with government enforcement initiatives and complex civil litigation. He primarily represents individuals and corporations in investigations and enforcement matters brought by the U.S. Department of Justice, a number of U.S. Attorneys' Offices, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and other federal and state investigative agencies related to allegations of complex financial fraud and violations of U.S. sanctions law and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He also has significant experience advising clients regarding anti-corruption and sanctions compliance programs, risk assessments and conducting due diligence on third parties.

Jeremy was named by Super Lawyers to its “Rising Star” list of young white collar criminal defense lawyers in 2020.

He received his law degree from The George Washington University Law School (with Honors), where he served as notes editor for The George Washington Law Review. Jeremy earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in both History and Government from Colby College.

Jeremy is admitted to practice law in Maryland, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.

  • A publicly traded provider of business software and services in a global investigation of potential FCPA and economic sanctions exposure, including evaluations of actions of executives, channel partners and foreign sales offices.
  • A French corporation with the assessment, due diligence and upgrade of its global international FCPA compliance program.
  • Lead associate on team that represented a UAE financial institution in economic sanctions matter before OFAC, DOJ, DFS and FCA.
  • Lead associate on team that represented a U.K. financial institution before the DOJ, OFAC and other agencies involving alleged breaches of U.S. sanctions laws for processing U.S. dollar transactions with sanctioned entities.
  • Lead associate on team that represented a senior executive in an FCPA investigation in Mexico, Brazil and Asia.
