Overview

Ronald Anguas is a partner in the Investigations & White Collar Defense practice at Paul Hastings, based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. He represents multinational corporations, financial institutions and senior executives in high-stakes commercial disputes at both the trial and appellate levels, with a focus on securities class actions, antitrust litigation, civil RICO matters and government enforcement and investigations. Ronald also represents clients in confidential investigations before the Securities and Exchange Commission, state attorneys general and other regulators. 

Ronald has consistently delivered exceptional results in some of the most high-stakes matters across the country. He plays a lead role in every stage of litigation, from strategic planning through trial and appeal. Ronald has examined witnesses in federal court, led and defended dozens of depositions, and briefed and argued dispositive motions in major jurisdictions. His clients range from aerospace and hospitality giants to social media, private equity and life sciences leaders. They consistently turn to him for his strategic judgment, crisis management expertise and ability to connect complex legal issues with business realities.

Ronald holds degrees in law, business and government from Harvard University, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. He draws on all three disciplines in advising clients. Following law school, Ronald clerked for the Honorable J. Harvie Wilkinson III of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit.

  • Deel in obtaining the dismissal of civil RICO claims involving more than $10 billion in payments. The result was recognized by The American Lawyer's "Litigator of the Week" column.
  • Cruise Lines International Association in the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii and in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, where the 9th Circuit issued an emergency order blocking the State of Hawaii from implementing a statute that imposed unconstitutional charges and compelled-speech requirements on cruise ships hours before it was set to take effect.
  • Former independent directors of iLearningEngines in obtaining a complete dismissal with prejudice of a putative securities class action.
  • Srinivas Koneru in a case of first impression challenging the Securities and Exchange Commission's authority to initiate enforcement actions during the 2025 government shutdown under the Anti-Deficiency Act.
  • Fox Corporation in antitrust litigation brought by Newsmax under Sections 1 and 2 of the Sherman Act.
  • DoubleVerify in defamation litigation pending in the District of Maryland.
  • Acima in a constitutional challenge to the CFPB’s authority.
  • Multinational chemical company in mass tort litigation alleging personal injury from product exposure. Secured summary judgment in client’s favor following successful expert challenge.
  • Global hospitality company in consumer class action alleging improper pricing disclosures.
  • Fortune 500 company in confidential multistate regulatory investigation regarding alleged violations of state consumer protection law.
  • Higher education provider in putative class action alleging misrepresentations regarding degree programs.

Pro Bono 

  • Represented asylum-seeking children in contested immigration proceedings through Kids In Need of Defense.
  • Defended voting rights before the 4th and 10th Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court, including on behalf of the North Carolina NAACP and League of Women Voters in challenges to state election laws.
