
Overview
Andrew J. Pai is an associate in the Global Fintech & Payments practice of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm's New York office. His practice focuses on providing regulatory advice to fintechs and financial institutions on issues involving financial technology, with a focus on blockchains and blockchain-based protocols.
Prior to joining the firm, Andrew was an attorney in the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)'s Market Participants Division (MPD), where he advised the CFTC staff on financial requirements and surveillance of Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs) and Swap Dealers (SDs), especially in the context of innovative financial products, including issues such as capital, margin, custody, clearing and segregation requirements. Andrew was also an associate in the New York office of another global firm, where he focused on regulatory and transactional matters surrounding capital markets and derivatives.
Andrew received his law degree from Columbia Law School in 2020, where he received Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar honors and served as articles editor of the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics-Statistics from Columbia College, Columbia University in 2015, and a Masters in Computer and Information Technology from University of Pennsylvania in 2024. Andrew is admitted to practice law in New York.
