Associate, Employment Law Department

Overview

Ankush Dhupar is an associate in the Employment Law Department of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office.

Traditional Labor. Mr. Dhupar has been practicing traditional labor for his entire career. He has extensive experience negotiating collective bargaining agreements and responding to unfair labor practice charges, election petitions, and organizing campaigns. Mr. Dhupar has represented employers in multiple unfair labor practice cases, including cases that have involved lengthy administrative trials. He has also represented employers on appeal before the NLRB in Washington, D.C., and the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Dhupar also has significant experience drafting and negotiating project labor agreements (PLAs) on behalf of real estate developers, focusing on renewable energy, logistics, hospitality, residential, and complex mixed-use projects.

Mr. Dhupar’s experience in traditional labor predates his time with the firm. Prior to law school, he was a labor organizer for a large international union, which gives him a unique perspective on how employers can effectively anticipate and respond to union messaging and efforts.

Employment Law. Mr. Dhupar represents employers in all aspects of employment law, including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, disability accommodation, employee mobility, and wage and hour issues in both single-plaintiff and class action matters. Mr. Dhupar has a robust practice advising employers on Fair Credit Reporting Act compliance and litigating class actions alleging violations of federal and state background check laws.

Mr. Dhupar also advises employers facing the numerous practical and legal challenges associated with the ever-changing workplace, including those presented by employee activism, calls for increased diversity and inclusion, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Dhupar received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where he graduated Order of the Coif with specializations in both Business Law and Policy and Critical Race Studies. While in law school, Mr. Dhupar served as Chief Managing Editor of the UCLA Law Review. He also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Raymond J. Ikola of the California Court of Appeal. Mr. Dhupar received his B.A. in both Economics and Political Science, cum laude, from UCLA.
