Overview

Matthew Rutchik is an associate in the Investment Funds & Private Capital practice at Paul Hastings and is based in the firm's New York office. His practice focuses on ERISA Title I matters, including advice to clients on ERISA matters related to the structuring, formation, offering, and operation of investment vehicles, ERISA advisory and compliance matters (e.g., fiduciary responsibilities, prohibited transactions rules, and reporting and disclosure), and ERISA matters in structured finance transactions. In the past, he has represented asset managers, private funds, trustees, banks, insurance companies, underwriters, issuers, recordkeepers, and plan sponsors.

Mr. Rutchik also advises clients on executive compensation and employee benefits matters, principally in connection with mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions.

Before joining Paul Hastings, Mr. Rutchik held positions at other international law firms, in the private sector (as vice president and ERISA counsel of a major financial institution) and in government service (with the U.S. Department of Labor, Employee Benefit Security Administration).
