Surur Fatema Yonce is an associate in the Litigation practice and is based in the firm's Washington, D.C. office.
Ms. Yonce's practice focuses on data privacy and cyber security, national security, and cross-border government and internal investigations related to white collar defense and regulatory matters. She has represented both individual and corporate clients in various industries including the financial services, extractives, and technology sectors who face inquiries from regulatory bodies such as the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Congress, the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), as well as UK regulatory enforcement authorities. Ms. Yonce maintains an active pro bono practice.
Prior to joining Paul Hastings, Ms. Yonce worked in Fannie Mae's Capital Markets Operations & Technology group. In addition to her involvement with daily trading operations and technology, she performed internal reviews of compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley mandated controls, helped launch a company-wide strategic initiative to implement Lean management, and led portions of a major technology upgrade.
Ms. Yonce graduated with her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 2019 where she also studied business as a Doctoroff Fellow. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia in 2010.
