Overview

Kyrsten Ponturo is an associate in the Litigation Department of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s New York office.

Kyrsten focuses her practice on white-collar criminal defense, internal and government investigations — state and federal — and complex civil litigation.

Kyrsten represents a broad range of global clients in both state and federal courts. In addition, Kyrsten regularly represents companies and individuals in investigations and enforcement actions initiated by state attorneys general, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, state banking regulators and the Department of Justice. She regularly advises clients on a wide range of consumer protection issues both at the state and federal level.

Kyrsten maintains an active pro bono practice representing clients in immigration and family court matters.

Kyrsten received her law degree from New York University School of Law in 2019, where she served on the Journal of International Law and Politics. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations (magna cum laude) from Colgate University in 2016. Kyrsten is admitted to practice law in New York and the District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Representations

  • Defended a multinational construction machinery company in parallel proceedings across multiple forums, involving RICO and fraud claims, among others.
  • Won a full dismissal of a DOJ investigation into off-label drug promotion for Alnylam Pharmaceuticals.
  • Counsel in non-public state attorneys general investigations into alleged violations of consumer protection laws including a multistate investigation consisting of 40 states.
  • Counsel for financial institutions in non-public investigations by state banking regulators into alleged violations of lending laws.
  • Conducted an internal investigation on behalf of a pharmaceutical company into whistleblower allegations of potential Anti-Kickback Statute violations related to clinical trials and advisory boards.
