Natalie Coulton is a dual Australian- and England & Wales-qualified associate in the Intellectual Property & Technology practice, based in the London office of Paul Hastings.

Natalie is a highly experienced IP and tech lawyer, having worked on matters spanning copyright, trademarks, patents, registered designs, trade secrets and confidential information for clients across a broad array of sectors and venues.

Natalie’s Medicinal Chemistry degree makes her particularly well placed to advise life sciences clients, but she has an unmatched ability to adapt and quickly understand a broad array of complex inventions, products and technologies across various sectors, including crypto and AI.

  • Advising a number of AI companies on the impacts of the EU AI Act and ongoing IP and AI litigation in the U.K. and globally that may impact their R&D decisions.
  • Representing a major financial software developer in internal arbitration proceedings against a previous business partner.
  • Advising a major international biotech company in connection with its global patent protection and litigation strategy against a competitor threatening to launch a competing treatment for achondroplasia.
  • Advising an Australian based environmental technologies company on potential UPC proceedings and associated patent protection and enforcement strategy.
  • Advising a U.S. biotech company in connection with a potential inventorship claim by Australian research partners relating to various high value European Patents.
  • Representing NASDAQ in its trademark and breach of confidence action against Finage Ltd, a U.K. company accused of unlawfully accessing and distributing financial data worth some $9.6 million.
  • Representing a major cryptocurrency exchange in actions against various parties for breaching their contractual obligations regarding their use of the cryptocurrency exchange.
  • Advising a major global tech company on various IP, antitrust, tax and regulatory implications for its proposed launch of a new product in over 70 different jurisdictions.
  • Part of a cross-jurisdictional team advising a major AI and tech company on aspects of a complex web of trade secret litigation, with proceedings before the Bermuda Supreme Court.
  • Advising a leading life sciences client on a patent dispute regarding ownership of an extremely high value medical invention.
  • Representing a cryptocurrency client in a trademark infringement dispute regarding the use of “Keyless Wallet.”
  • Advising pro bono clients on various IP issues including trademark protection and enforcement, partnership agreements for joint initiatives and negotiating contracts for key promotional projects to boost customer engagement and awareness of key issues in the community.
