Daily Journal Recognizes Global IP Practice Co-Chair Yar Chaikovsky as Top IP Lawyer for Eighth Consecutive Time

April 21, 2021

Palo Alto – Global co-chair of Paul Hastings’ Intellectual Property practice, Yar Chaikovsky, has once again been named to the Daily Journal’s list of “Top Intellectual Property Lawyers in California.” The California-focused legal trade publication compiled its 2021 list based on hundreds of nominations submitted by lawyers statewide, with the honorees selected by editors based on the impact of their work in intellectual property or the development of law.

This is the eighth consecutive ranking for Chaikovsky. Daily Journal noted his work on behalf of Trend Micro, TikTok, Snap, HTC, Xtera, Twitter, and Canon, highlighting, in particular, Chaikovsky’s success on behalf of Snap, whose arguments helped invalidate four of six patents asserted by BlackBerry, and, later, won an appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

As global co-chair of the practice, Chaikovsky leads the firm’s 100-plus lawyer IP practice. During his nearly three-decade career, he has served as lead trial counsel, won jury trials and ITC hearings, and obtained summary judgments and summary determinations for some of the most preeminent global technology companies in their most important IP and patent matters.

Paul Hastings’ Intellectual Property practice advises clients on important, complex IP matters, providing innovative solutions for our clients’ challenges with a track record of success in high-stakes, bet-the-company patent and trade secret litigation and other IP disputes in trial and appeals courts, at the PTAB and the ITC, and in arbitral tribunals.

The practice is ranked by Chambers and Partners, IAM, The Legal 500, Managing IP, and Benchmark Litigation in various areas, including patent, trade secrets, ITC litigation, and PTAB practice, as well as by BTI Consulting as a “Go-To Litigation Firm” and “Best for Complex IP Litigation” in its annual “Intellectual Property Outlook” report. Paul Hastings IP lawyers have been selected numerous times as Law360’s “Most Valuable Players”; and as Trailblazers by The National Law JournalThe Recorder, and The New York Law Journal.
