Finance Growth Continues at Paul Hastings with New Complex Transaction and Fintech Finance Partner in Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C. — Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that Rich Davis has joined the firm as a partner in the Finance practice, based in Washington, D.C. He joins from DLA Piper, where he was a partner. Davis’ arrival further strengthens the firm’s global Finance practice, which has welcomed numerous partner additions over the past several years, including Scott FagaEugene Ferrer, Michael SmithDiala Minott, and Cameron Saylor, all former colleagues of Davis from Ashurst.

Davis primarily practices in the lending markets, representing both lenders and borrowers in complex financings. He is a leading lawyer nationally in the fintech lending market, where he represents numerous fintech lenders – and lenders to fintech lenders – in financings secured by various types of fintech assets, including consumer and small business loans, merchant cash advances and trade receivables.  He also has extensive experience structuring complex repo and other safe-harbor lending transactions involving various types of loans, securities and other assets. His clients include global commercial and investment banks, commercial finance companies, direct lenders, private equity funds and fintech originators.

In 2016, Paul Hastings expanded its London office with the addition of Structured Finance partners Michael Smith, Diala Minott, and Cameron Saylor, all formerly with Ashurst. Their arrival followed the addition of former U.S.-based Ashurst partners Scott Faga and Eugene Ferrer, Global Co-Head of the Securities and Derivatives Group and Managing Partner for U.S. offices at Ashurst, respectively.
