New York, NY - Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, represented FHipo (Fideicomiso Hipotecario) in its follow-on international equity offering raising Ps. 3 billion (approximately US $170 million). The transaction marks the first international offering of equity securities by a Mexican company this year. FHipo is the first Mexican mortgage REIT and raised over US $700 million in its IPO in 2014.
FHipo is a unique vehicle investing in Mexican mortgages. Its IPO and follow-on equity offering represent the establishment of an international secondary market for Latin American mortgages, which is helping to foster home ownership by Mexico’s emerging middle class.
