Century City – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that Craig Emanuel, the chair of the firm’s global Entertainment and Media practice, has been named to the fourth annual edition of Variety500, Variety’s index of the 500 most influential business leaders shaping the global media industry.
The Variety500 reflects the accomplishments of its members over the previous 12 months, selected by the Variety editorial board, which conducted extensive research for its selections. This is the second consecutive year that Emanuel has been included in the prestigious list.
The profile notes that Emanuel helped secure one of the biggest TV deals ever for Ryan Murphy at Netflix (worth some $300 million) in 2018, and he has been handling ongoing negotiations between the writer-producer and the streamer for projects including the series “Hollywood” and a new adaptation of the play “The Boys in the Band.”
Other projects note in the profile include a deal for Tony Gilroy to write and exec produce a “Rogue One” series for Disney Plus and representing the Lumistella Company in auctioning the rights for children’s book “The Elf on the Shelf” to Netflix. Emanuel also repped Plan B president Dede Gardner in the prodco’s Amazon TV pact and Sight Unseen in its Hulu deal for the film “Bad Hair.” Other clients include Robert Rodriguez and Cirque du Soleil.
This is the latest in a series of accolades for Emanuel this year, including his inclusion in Variety’s Dealmakers Impact Report 2020 and Legal Impact Report 2020, The Hollywood Reporter’s Power Lawyers 2020 and The National Law Journal’s 2020 Sports & Entertainment Law Trailblazer list.
