(March 31, 2011) - Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm represented leading shopping center and mixed-use property developer Tucker Development and Acquisition Fund in partnership with the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils team in the development of the City of Newarks first new hotel in almost 40 years. The 150-room Courtyard by Marriott will be a mixed-use hotel and 14,000 square foot retail property connected to the citys Prudential Center, home to the New Jersey Devils and host to approximately 200 events each year.
Paul Hastings advised Tucker on its joint venture with a subsidiary of the New Jersey Devils, the acquisition of the project site by the joint venture, negotiation of the hotel management agreement with Marriott, various agreements relating to the development of the site, as well as the financing associated with these aspects of the transaction.
