(March 8, 2013) - Paul Hastings, a leading global law firm, announced today that it represented Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd. (“Mapletree”), a leading real estate development, investment and capital management company based in Singapore, as Sponsor and Mapletree Greater China Commercial Trust Management Ltd. as Manager in the US$1.3 billion initial public offering of Singapore-based REIT Mapletree Greater China Commercial Trust (“MGCCT”). The successful closing of this transaction marks the largest-ever REIT initial public offering in Singapore.
MGCCT is the fourth REIT sponsored by Mapletree, which comprises of two commercial assets including Festival Walk shopping center in Hong Kong and the Gateway Plaza office complex in Beijing.
Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, DBS and HSBC were the joint bookrunners on the offering.
Paul Hastings has advised Mapletree on a number of high-profile transactions over the past few years including the US$3 billion establishment of its guaranteed Euro Medium Term Note Programme in 2012, its US$2.4 billion acquisition of Festival Walk from Swire Properties Limited in 2011, and its acquisition of Gateway Plaza in Beijing in 2010.
