Yar Chaikovsky Named Top Intellectual Property Lawyer by the Daily Journal

Palo Alto, CA –

, global co-chair of Paul Hastings’ Intellectual Property practice, has once again been named by the Daily Journal as one of its 2019 Top Intellectual Property Lawyers in California. This is the sixth consecutive year, and 10 out of the last 11, that he has been featured in the report, which honors top lawyers based on the impact of their work in intellectual property.

The Daily Journal highlighted Chaikovsky’s track record of winning “when the odds are stacked against him,” and noted his representation of Snap, HTC, and Trend Micro, for whom Chaikovsky achieved a complete victory in an infringement lawsuit from Intellectual Ventures. The victory concluded when U.S. District Judge Leonard P. Stark ordered Intellectual Ventures to reimburse Trend Micro for its legal fees in the amount of $444,051, a rare instance when Judge Stark found a case “exceptional” under the standard set by the U.S. Supreme Court in Octane Fitness LLC v. Icon Health & Fitness Inc. for fee shifting in patent litigation.
