Alan Weakland is a partner in the Real Estate practice of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s Century City office. He primarily represents institutional equity and debt investors in office, retail, hotel and other real estate projects. Mr. Weakland’s clients include major domestic and foreign investors, including pension advisors, investments funds, insurance companies, banks, and other lenders. Mr. Weakland has extensive experience in the hospitality industry including acquisition and disposition of hotels and management and franchise agreements.


Recognized by Chambers USA 2007, 2009-2021. Listed individually as a "Ranked Lawyer" in California Real Estate (Band 3) and as a "Recognized Practitioner" in Nationwide Leisure and Hospitality.

  • Funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management L.P. in connection with an equity investment in the Atlantis Bahamas project and the acquisition of the various hotel properties including the Washington Hilton, the Marriott Philadelphia Downtown, the Fairmont San Francisco, the Mark Hopkins Hotel and the Kauai Lagoons mixed use project.
  • Funds managed by Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts & Co. in connection with the acquisition and financing of the Warwick Philadelphia, the Radisson Blu Minneapolis and the Doubletree Houston Galleria. 
  • Chartres Lodging and its capital partners in connection with various hotel investments including the Novotel New York, the Waikiki Trade Center, the Hyatt Centric Honolulu, a portfolio of six Adams Mark hotels and the Doubletree Chicago Magnificent Mile 
  • Funds managed by Rockwood Capital in connection with the acquisition of various hotel properties including Hyatt Bethesda, a multi-property portfolio of Club Quarters hotels, the Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC, a US$500+ million portfolio of hotels and the Hilton Glendale 
  • Loews Hotels in connection with the acquisition of the Loews Regency San Francisco. 
  • Chartres Lodging and Elliott Capital Management in connection with the acquisition and recapitalization of the Dallas Sheraton.
