New York – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announces that Eduardo Gallardo, global co-chair of the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions practice, was elected as a member of The American Law Institute (ALI).

Comprised of lawyers, law professors and eminent judges, election to ALI is limited and an honor based on professional achievement and a proven interest in improving the law. Members draft, discuss, revise, and publish Restatements of the Law, Model Codes, and other scholarly materials to influence the development of law in courts, legislatures, and legal education.

Gallardo‘s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, shareholder activism defense, and corporate governance matters. His extensive experience includes representing public and private buyers and sellers in mergers, acquisitions, and takeovers -- both negotiated and contested. He also represents companies in proxy contests, leveraged buyouts, spinoffs, divestitures, restructurings, recapitalizations, joint ventures, and other complex corporate transactions.

He is ranked by Chambers USA for Corporate/M&A and Corporate/M&A: Takeover Defense, and has been recognized as a leading M&A lawyer by many publications, including “Dealmaker of the Year” by The American Lawyer. He also was named to The National Law Journal’s list of Mergers & Acquisitions and Antitrust Trailblazers.
