Hayley Silvertown is of counsel in the Music Industry and Entertainment & Media practice at Paul Hastings and is based in the firm's Century City office. She brings extensive experience and provides strategic insight on complex transactions and day-to-day industry matters within the music sector and broader entertainment and media landscape. Hayley represents clients on both buy-side and sell-side of music catalog acquisitions, acquisitions of and investments in music companies and joint venture arrangements, as well as on day-to-day transactional work, such as recording and publishing agreements, podcasting and content license agreements, first-look and overall deals, branding and endorsement agreements, composer agreements for film and television and performance agreements relating to music festivals and live concerts.

Hayley navigates high-profile transactions with a deep understanding of the industry's evolving landscape and provides clients with both practical and forward-thinking guidance to support their creative and business interests and ensure they are best positioned for growth.

  • Create Music Group in its $300+ million investment into leading global independent record label, Nettwerk Music Group, giving Create a controlling position in Nettwerk’s music IP portfolio.
  • Private investment platform and its affiliated vehicles, which served as a provider of hybrid capital in connection with the acquisition of The Weeknd’s music catalog, including both publishing and recorded music assets.
  • Liberty Mutual Insurance as equity investor with Northleaf Capital Partners in a special purpose equity managed by music rights investment firm, GoldState, for the purpose of acquiring music royalty assets. GoldState’s $500 million raise marks the private equity world’s latest big vote of confidence in music rights.

  • Numerous social and technology platforms and brands, including 101 Studios (Yellowstone franchise, Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown), Pokémon, TikTok and Match Group, on a wide range of music and non-music matters and initiatives, including audio-visual content production and distribution, live events, virtual and augmented reality, music licensing and distribution, merchandising and artificial intelligence.
