Jon Welner, an attorney in the Real Estate Department, will be chairing a panel at the Annual Conference of the Association of Defense Communities (ADC). Beth Deane is a featured panelist covering innovative approaches to insurance.  The conference will be held in Boston on August 2-5, 2009. 

Panel on August 5: "McClellan Air Force Base- Phase II"

Two years ago at the ADC conference in Miami, the parties involved at the former McClellan Air Force Base held a panel to discuss the "lessons learned" in achieving the first early transfer with privatized remediation at an National Priority List (NPL) site.  The site was a relatively clean property, about 60 acres in size.  Now the parties are getting close to completing the transfer of a much larger and more complex property:  600 acres, involving radioactive contamination, an innovative approach to insurance, and the transfer of multiple parcels at different times.  This panel will discuss the new "lessons learned" from the perspective of the Local Reuse Authority, the Air Force, the regulators, and the developer.
