Paul Hastings Global Vice Chair of Intellectual Property Eric Dittmann has been named among Law360’s 2023 “MVPs” for Life Sciences. Mr. Dittmann was recognized for his work in serving as lead counsel for Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corp. in its win over Novartis Pharma AG after a four-year multibillion-dollar royalty battle, and for securing a victory for L’Oreal in an infringement suit filed by the University of Massachusetts Medical School and Carmel Laboratories that threatened 180 skincare products.

Mr. Dittmann told Law360 that his greatest accomplishment of the past year was when his client Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corp. won its arbitration battle against Novartis Pharma, with the International Chamber of Commerce ruling in favor of MTPC just minutes after the Super Bowl ended on February 12. “I was enjoying the game with my wife and kids as well as my dad. So it was really extra special to be able to share that moment with them during the decision, especially after four years of intense litigation,” Mr. Dittmann said.
