China Matters: China Issues New Foreign Investment Restrictions

Chinas National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce jointly promulgated the new Foreign Investment Industrial Guidance Catalogue on October 31, 2007. The New Catalogue will replace the existing catalogue on December 1, 2007, and bring dramatic changes to the way industries are categorized as encouraged, permitted, restricted, or prohibited for foreign investment.
