FERC Issues Proposed Rules to Implement New Expanded Authority over Mergers & Acquisitions

On October 3, 2005, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission proposed rules and amendments to its regulations in order to implement new provisions of the Energy Policy Act of 2005__, which amended Section 203 of the Federal Power Act and expanded FERC’s jurisdiction over mergers and acquisitions of utility assets.
