It is now nearly four years since the statutory regime for the identification and remediation of contaminated land came into force on 1 April 2000. The framework for the regime is set out in Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the legislative provisions have been supplemented by Statutory Guidance and regulations.
