Financial Times Recognizes Paul Hastings for Innovation in North America

December 11, 2020

New York – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the Financial Times has again named the firm one of the most innovative in North America, in the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America 2020 report. The firm was ranked among the top ten overall most innovative firms for the 11th consecutive year, as well as being ranked among the top five ‘Most digital firms’, based on use of data and technology.

Amy Wegener, chief practice innovation officer at Paul Hastings, was also named one of the top five business and practice leaders who have made an impact through their capacity to innovate in the past months. The profile notes that Amy has “shown the value of non-legal professionals in driving efficiency and creating opportunities” and details her work creating the practice innovation and legal solutions department, leading the team in effecting digital transformation of timekeeping, legal project management, and legal tech training.

The firm was also highlighted in the ‘Rethinking the workplace’ category, recognizing firms who found innovative channels to train, support and communicate with employees and clients. As part of its virtual summer associate scheme, the firm launched its Legaltech University to train participants on technologies such as artificial intelligence and analytics.

This success follows the firm’s acclaim in the FT’s Europe report in October this year, highly commended for responding to Covid-19, innovation in the practice of law, and among the top 10 ‘Innovative Practitioners’; and in the FT’s Asia Report in August, also recognized as a ‘Standout’ in the innovative practice of law.

The Financial Times’ report is one of the top legal rankings in North America and highly regarded around the world. This year some 247 submissions and nominations were received for the North America report from 71 law firms and 35 in-house legal teams.

At Paul Hastings, our purpose is clear — to help our clients and people navigate new paths to growth. With a strong presence throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the U.S., Paul Hastings is recognised as one of the world’s most innovative global law firms.
