Overview

Eric D. Stolze is an Of Counsel attorney in the Complex Litigation and Arbitration practice group of Paul Hastings, based in the Atlanta office. His areas of practice include commercial and contract disputes; employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims; franchise law and litigation; data security incident investigations and consumer litigation; government investigations and white collar defense, including fraud, healthcare, and cybercrime; and environmental torts.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Stolze served as a law clerk to the Honorable William T. Moore, Jr. in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia in Savannah.

Mr. Stolze received his J.D. in 2010 as a First Honor Graduate of The University of Georgia School of Law and member of the Order of the Coif and Chattahoochee Inn of Court. He was a member of the Georgia Law Review’s editorial board and served as a Notes Editor. 

Additionally, he obtained a BBA in Finance from The University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business in 2006, also as a First Honor Graduate. He is admitted to practice law in Georgia.

As a member of the office’s pro bono committee, Mr. Stolze both serves as counsel for and coordinates representation of legally underserved individuals and non-profit entities on issues of significant importance. He is an advocate for the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyer Foundation’s Saturday Morning Lawyers Program and serves on the steering committee of ServiceJuris, an annual day of service for Atlanta’s legal community coordinating thousands of volunteer hours to benefit disadvantaged neighborhoods and schools in the metropolitan Atlanta area.

  • Obtaining summary judgments for a "big four" airline in nearly two dozen, individual cases filed by pilots and flight crew alleging failure to promote and systemic racial discrimination, hostile work environment, and retaliation.
  • Advising the world’s busiest airport and transportation companies on personnel, logistics, contracting, and regulatory compliance issues;
  • Securing dismissal of nuisance, negligence, and environmental tort claims against global meat producers and their contract farmers;
  • Defending consumer litigation and regulatory inquiries arising from one of the first, large-scale data breaches under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR);
  • National coordinating counsel for tort claims against one of the world’s largest manufacturers of flooring and tile;
  • North America’s largest manufacturers of wire and cable in breach of patent Licensing Agreement dispute. NeWire, Inc. vs. Southwire Company, Chancery Court for the State of Tennessee, 18th Judicial District (Sumner County), Case No. 2011C-21;
  • Defense of a former hedge fund portfolio manager in parallel DOJ and SEC enforcement proceedings involving $3.2 million of insider trading gain—obtaining a day in custody despite a recommended term of 41 months under the federal sentencing guidelines and mere disgorgement order of $19,000 and civil penalty assessment of $38,000, notwithstanding the SEC’s request for $8.2 million in financial remedies;
  • Appellate practice in guaranty enforcement and post-foreclosure litigation involving confirmation disputes on behalf of lenders and loan servicers. City National Bank v. Georgia Partners, LLC, The Court of Appeals of Georgia, Case No. A13A1259;
  • Financial institutions in regulatory compliance and investigative matters surrounding alleged U.S. sanctions violations and failure of anti-money laundering controls; and
  • Declaratory judgment action against a publicly-traded, international franchisor related to a licensing dispute. AFC Enterprises, Inc. v. The Hearst Corporation, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Case No. 12 Civ. 6839.
