Global Arbitration Review Highlights Paul Hastings’ Further Arbitration Growth Related to Europe, Africa and Latin America

Global Arbitration Review (GAR) features the further enhancement of Paul Hastings’ international arbitration experience in key sectors related to Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and Latin America with the addition of two of counsel, Anaïs Harlé and Opeyemi Longe, in Paris and London respectively, and “several associates” to complete the move of a “more than 10-strong team.” As GAR highlights, the team is “reunited with several former White & Case colleagues,” including Elizabeth Oger-Gross, Tolu Obamuroh and global co-chair of international arbitration Jonathan C. As GAR notes, Harlé’s practice focuses on “construction and energy disputes.” The publication also highlights significant matters she has been involved with, including advising French utility Engie in an Energy Charter Treaty claim against Hungary regarding gas tariffs, North Macedonia on an ICSID claim over the termination of a mining concession, and Georgia in relation to coordinated SCC and ICSID claims related to electricity tariffs. GAR also highlights that Harlé was “named co-chair of the French Arbitration Committee’s under-40 group”. 

Dual-qualified in Nigeria and England & Wales, Longe has substantial experience in the energy, infrastructure, construction and financial services sectors, as noted by GAR. The article details Longe’s role representing Nigeria in an investment treaty claim brought by a U.K.-based mining company. He also has significant additional experience advising sovereign states and private clients on the resolution of high-value and complex disputes across a broad range of sectors, especially in the energy, infrastructure, construction and financial services sectors.

Oger-Gross, Obamuroh and Harlé, together with Argentine and French-qualified Fernando Labombarda and other members of the team, have significant experience in Argentina, Chile, Panama and Peru in Latin America.
