
Overview
Christopher Hargett is an associate in the Energy and Infrastructure practice of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s New York office. He focuses on project development and finance, private equity, private placement offerings, asset acquisitions and dispositions, workouts and other corporate transactions related to renewable energy, the energy transition, conventional power, transportation, and telecommunications. Christopher represents sponsors and lenders, including major corporations, developers, equity investors, private equity funds, institutional investors, banks, and financial institutions.
Before becoming an attorney and joining Paul Hastings, Christopher served as Director, Energy Policy & Regulatory Affairs at Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (“Con Edison”). He was responsible for developing and executing on the company’s federal, state and local regulatory strategies, with a particular focus on clean energy policies, renewables and new technologies, wholesale electricity markets and electricity and natural gas infrastructure planning. Prior to joining Con Edison, Christopher served as Manager, Federal Regulatory Affairs at the Edison Electric Institute in Washington, D.C., and began his career as an economist and policy advisor at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

- Represented the lead arrangers, agents and lenders on a $780 million construction to term loan and tax equity financing structure for an approximately 600 MW solar project in Illinois.
- Represented the lead arrangers, agents and lenders on a $300 million construction to term loan and tax equity financing structure for a 300 MW solar project in Texas, one of the first project financings for a solar project in the US with a solar PTC transfer agreement under the Inflation Reduction Act.
- Represented the lead arrangers, agents and lenders on a $600 million construction to term loan and tax equity financing structure for an approximately 330 MW wind project and gen-tie transmission line located in Wyoming.
- Represented the lead arrangers, agents and lenders on a $445 million construction to term loan and tax equity financing structure for a portfolio of battery energy storage projects located in Texas and California.
- Represented the lead arrangers, agents and lenders on a $555 million construction to term loan and tax equity financing structure for two solar projects in Texas.
- Represented a US smart buildings technology company on a secured credit facility to finance the company’s energy savings and energy management equipment sale and installation business for corporate customers in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
- Represented the lead arrangers, agents and lenders on a $675 million financing for a portfolio of solar energy generation facilities located in the US.
- Represented the sponsors on a $740 million construction to term facility for a 950 MW natural gas-fired power plant in PJM.
- Represented the lead arrangers, agents and lenders on a $390 million financing for a portfolio of hydroelectric generation facilities located in the US.
- Represented the sponsor on a $370 million revolving credit facility for the construction of new electric transmission facilities located in New York.
