Overview
Nick Griepsma is of counsel in the Litigation Department of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm's Washington, D.C. office. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, mass torts, and regulatory adjudications and enforcement. Nick has represented a variety of clients in high-stakes matters in both state and federal court at both the trial and appellate levels on a variety of issues, including consumer protection, public nuisance, fraud and constitutional claims. Nick has first- and second-chaired numerous depositions, drafted successful motions and argued before multiple courts.
Nick served as a law clerk to the Honorable Leslie H. Southwick on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (2017-18) in Jackson, Mississippi. Prior to joining Paul Hastings, Nick was an associate at another international law firm in Washington, D.C.
Prior to law school, Nick served on active duty in the U.S. Army in support of the Global War on Terrorism, ultimately attaining the rank of Captain. From 2011-12, he deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. There, Nick led a platoon of infantrymen and cavalry scouts on hundreds of combat missions and was awarded the Bronze Star.

Took multiple depositions, argued motions and served as primary drafter on dozens of briefs before state and federal trial and appellate courts.

- Major U.S. fintech company in defense of federal civil RICO lawsuit involving roughly $10 billion in payments at issue, obtaining full dismissal at motion to dismiss stage.
