Overview

Richard Riles is an associate in the Corporate Department of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s Dallas office. Richard advises leading private equity sponsors, corporate borrowers and financial institutions in connection with a wide range of financing transactions, including syndicated loans, asset-based and reserve-based lending, acquisition financings and leveraged financings. His experience spans both transactional and restructuring matters, including in-court and out-of-court debt restructurings, workouts and distressed financing arrangements.

He regularly drafts and negotiates complex credit documentation, including credit agreements, intercreditor agreements, commitment papers and legal opinions. He also counsels clients and their portfolio companies on debt compliance, corporate governance and working capital arrangements. In each transaction, he takes a hands-on approach to managing deal execution, coordinating closely with clients, opposing counsel and internal deal teams to ensure seamless delivery and results.

Richard earned his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt Law School, where he was a Chancellor’s Law Scholar and a George Barrett Social Justice Fellow. He was also active in Moot Court, Mock Trial and the Legal Aid Society and received the Book Award in Poverty Law. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of New Orleans, where he received the Political Science Graduate Award and held leadership roles in student government and civic engagement initiatives.
