Berkeley Fife is an associate in the Litigation practice and is based in the firm's Palo Alto office.  Her practice focuses on intellectual property and technology matters with an emphasis on patent litigation.

Ms. Fife has litigated in a variety of high technology industries, including telecommunications, optics, cybersecurity, network technology, and wearable technology.  Ms. Fife has litigated in patent cases in district courts across the country, as well as before the United States International Trade Commission, the PTAB, and the Federal Circuit.  She has helped clients win cases on summary judgment and has experience preparing for and taking cases to trial/hearing in district court and before the ITC.

Ms. Fife received her law degree in 2018 from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was a member of the Georgetown Environmental Law Review.  During law school, she served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Edward M. Chen at the United States District Court for the Northern District of California in San Francisco.  Ms. Fife earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University in 2015.  Ms. Fife is admitted to practice law in California.

Recent Representations

  • Pixmarx LLC v. TikTok Inc.  (W.D. Tex.): defended TikTok in multi-patent dispute. Through aggressive early case strategy, obtained favorable settlement.

  • BlackBerry Limited v. Snap Inc.  (C.D. Cal.): defended Snap in six-patent case; prepared summary judgment motions that invalidated four key patents under § 101, resulting in eventual dismissal with prejudice of remaining patents. Federal Circuit issued opinion affirming invalidation of all patents.

  • SecurityProfiling LLC v. Trend Micro  (E.D. Tex., N.D. Tex.): defended Trend Micro in six-patent case involving vulnerability mitigation systems with firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and virtual patching; case resolved favorably after Federal Circuit upheld PTAB's invalidity decision.
