Associate, Litigation Department

Overview

Megan Zhu is an associate in the Litigation Department at Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s Beijing office.

Her practice focuses on internal investigations, cross-border government investigations, cross-border litigations and risk assessment involving issues relating to corruption, fraud, sanctions and trade controls. Megan has extensive experience in advising Chinese companies, multinational corporations and listed companies across a variety of industries, including life sciences, technology, manufacturing and telecommunications. Megan also has experience in supporting corporate transactional matters.

Megan is admitted to practice law in New York. She passed the bar examination in China in 2022, but does not hold a current practicing certificate. Megan is fluent in English and Mandarin.

  • Multiple multinational pharmaceutical, medical device and software companies in a series of internal investigations of their business operations in Asia Pacific (including mainland China, India and Japan) in connection with whistleblower allegations, bribery and corruption, books and records, improper patient interactions, revenue recognition and other compliance related issues. 
  • Multiple independent investigations on behalf of the audit committees of the boards of directors of several U.S.-listed Chinese companies over whistleblower complaints and short-seller allegations relating to revenue recognition issues and financial frauds. 
  • Several multinational companies in life science industry in investigations from Chinese governmental authorities related to suspected bribery misconduct, sponsorships and grants, and third party and distributor misconduct.

  • A PRC communications module company in connection with trade controls and sanctions matters for its proposed H-share listing. 
  • A PRC high-tech enterprise engaged in the R&D, design and manufacturing of PCBs in connection with trade controls and sanctions matters for its proposed H-share listing. 
  • A PRC manufacturer specializing in the R&D and production of EV chargers in connection with trade controls and sanctions matters for its proposed H-share listing.

  • A multinational data and software company on complex commercial litigation relating to claims concerning trade secret infringement, unfair competition, trademark and patent infringement.
