Overview

Vladimir J. Semendyai is a senior associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation practice at Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Vlad’s practice focuses on appeals in the U.S. Courts of Appeals, particularly in the Federal Circuit, and litigating patent and trade secret cases involving a variety of technologies in federal district courts. Vlad has significant appellate experience and has litigated before the U.S Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Federal, Seventh and Ninth Circuits. He also has broad experience in all phases of trial litigation, including motions practice, discovery, claim construction, trial preparation, trial and oral argument preparation. Vlad also teaches the Experiential Advocacy Competition course at The George Washington University Law School, instructing moot court advocacy teams on appellate advocacy.

Vlad previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jimmie V. Reyna on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. During law school, he interned for the Honorable Susan G. Braden at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and assisted with drafting the Local Patent Rules for that court.

Prior to his career as an attorney, Vlad worked for eight years as a software developer, developing web-based peer-review technologies for many of the world’s top academic journals.

Vlad is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the State of New York. He is a member of the bars of the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Seventh and Federal Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
