Analysis of OECD Guidelines: Ch. IV Human Rights Cases

December 09, 2022

The Paul Hastings Business and Human Rights Practice Group

In 2011, the UN Human Rights Council adopted the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights ("UNGP"). That same year, the OECD revised its Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises to include a new chapter on human rights obligations, Chapter IV, specifically modeled on and developed in tandem with the UNGP.

In anticipation of International Human Rights Day, Paul Hastings has prepared an analytical review of all of the Chapter IV cases undertaken since 2011, and developed a 10-year impact report of the OECD Guidelines Human Rights Chapter. This report synthesizes hundreds of cases and provides analysis of trends that are crucial in understanding the processes and impacts of the NCP system.
