Paul Hastings Hosts US Soccer Foundation for PHilanthropy Spotlight Series

July 15, 2026

Opening our offices to our nonprofit partners is a core part of our corporate social responsibility initiatives. The PHilanthropy Spotlight Series is an extension of this ethos, and when the world comes together through sports, we look for opportunities to help amplify the nonprofits working to uplift young people and their communities.

We recently welcomed our longtime nonprofit partner the U.S. Soccer Foundation as a guest for our thought leadership series. Paul Hastings partner Brett Lawrence moderated a conversation with Ed Foster-Simeon, president and CEO of the U.S. Soccer Foundation, and U.S. Men’s National Team legend Tab Ramos, who played in the 1994 World Cup.

The conversation explored how the Foundation is building on the momentum from this year’s World Cup to expand access to safe places to play, free and low-cost youth soccer programming, and trained coach-mentors. We also learned how the 1994 World Cup created a lasting legacy, helping pave the way for the launch of Major League Soccer and providing the funding that established the U.S. Soccer Foundation, expanding the game and creating greater opportunities for sports-based community development. The discussion highlighted the Foundation’s efforts to build 1,000 mini-pitches by the end of 2026 and provide school and after-school programming that combines soccer with mentorship and life skills. The Foundation’s goal is to become entrenched within these communities and build lasting infrastructure.

The conversation also provided a timely opportunity to welcome our summer associates while launching the fourth season of the PHilanthropy Spotlight Series. We are proud to support the U.S. Soccer Foundation and its work to ensure that the excitement surrounding the World Cup creates an impact that extends far beyond the tournament.

PHilanthropy Spotlight Series:

Launched in 2023, the Philanthropy Spotlight Series convenes nonprofit and business leaders for conversations on leadership, purpose and the role nonprofit organizations play in strengthening communities. The series provides a platform to engage philanthropy leaders on topics that highlight the intersection between nonprofits and business, while fostering learning and connections across sectors.
