Paul Hastings LLP achieved a significant victory on behalf of Career Colleges & Schools of Texas (CCST) when a federal court of appeals granted CCST’s request for a nationwide injunction halting the implementation of the U.S. Department of Education’s latest regulations on borrower defense to repayment. The Paul Hastings team successfully argued that, absent an order of injunction, the regulations would harm career schools, as well as the many students and communities that depend on them. The widely impactful decision follows extensive briefing and oral argument before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, in addition to briefing in the Fifth Circuit.
