CENTURY CITY and ORANGE COUNTY – Paul Hastings LLP announced today the addition of an elite team of complex litigation lawyers in California, further strengthening the firm's top-tier litigation practice. Craig Cardon, Abby Meyer and Jay Ramsey join from Sheppard Mullin.
"Craig, Abby and Jay are precisely the kind of top-tier litigators our clients seek, and their arrival underscores the momentum of our Complex Litigation practice," said Global Managing Partner Sherrese Smith. “Their arrival further strengthens our ability to represent companies in consumer class actions and mass arbitrations, allowing us to continue to gain share at the top of the market.”
"Joining Paul Hastings allows Abby, Jay and I to pair our experience with the powerful litigation platform the firm has built,” said Cardon. “Our practices complement Paul Hastings’ existing strengths, and the firm’s broad platform will provide the reach and resources to serve clients on their most significant matters.”
Cardon represents retailers, brands, adtech companies and technology platforms in class actions, mass arbitrations, and governmental investigations and enforcement proceedings primarily related to data usage, privacy and false advertising. He also advises clients on regulatory compliance, including advertising review for some of the country’s largest retailers and consumer product manufacturers. Cardon has developed a leading mass arbitration practice, representing businesses facing coordinated arbitration filings from tens of thousands of claimants seeking to leverage asymmetrical arbitration expenses. He has also defended FTC advertising enforcement actions through trial and regularly appears before the National Advertising Division.
Meyer specializes in consumer class action defense for food, beverage, retail, cosmetics and consumer goods companies, with a particular focus on product labeling, advertising and marketing claims. She has a strong track record working on “natural,” “Made in USA,” sustainability, slack-fill, contamination, pricing and health-halo claims. Meyer also counsels clients on compliance issues, including FDA regulations, FTC requirements and marketing claims, and California marketing requirements. She handles all aspects of litigation, from early resolution through filing, trial and appeal, in state and federal courts and arbitration.
Ramsey is an experienced litigator and trial attorney. He advises clients on complex business litigation and consumer class actions. He has defended clients in class actions and mass arbitrations involving false advertising, false discounts, product liability, warranty, privacy and data breach claims. He counsels an array of clients, including major retailers, brands, product manufacturers, lead generators, advertising networks, food and beverage companies, insurers, health plans, hospitals, airlines and telecommunications companies. Ramsey also advises clients on marketing, advertising, pricing, privacy and related e-commerce matters.
