
Overview
Gina Cora is of counsel in the Complex Litigation and Arbitration practice of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s New York office. She advises corporations, financial institutions, funds and individuals across multiple disciplines in connection with a wide variety of critical, complex civil and commercial matters, including fraud, breach of contract, breach of duty, Sarbanes-Oxley, intellectual property and anti-computer hacking laws. In addition, Gina has extensive experience litigating legal malpractice cases and advising law firm clients. She litigates in both state and federal courts and at both the trial and appellate levels. She has achieved many outright victories in both plaintiff- and defendant-side representations in various high-stakes cases.
Gina served as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard J. Sullivan, then of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. She holds degrees from Yale Law School, Brown University and the University of Notre Dame.

- Industry-leading tech company in a commercial spyware trial, winning $168 million in damages after winning summary judgment on liability.
- Won summary judgment in favor of a global financial institution on all claims, affirmed by the Second Circuit, in a whistleblower retaliation suit under Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank.
- Won dismissal of a Fortune 100 financial institution from MDL related to restrictions placed on trading in GameStop and other “meme” stocks.
- Won dismissal of action against a non-U.S. energy company to enforce a €433 million foreign judgment in first New York appellate decision to recognize jurisdictional defense to enforcement of foreign money judgments.
- Won dismissal of action and an award of Rule 11 sanctions in a case alleging violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act.
- Won dismissal of shareholder derivative action alleging breach of duty claims against the directors of a global financial industry leader.
- Won dismissal of New York state court action alleging tortious interference with contract on behalf of a non-U.S. financial institution and director.
- Achieved favorable resolutions on behalf of funds, partnerships, family offices and executives in confidential matters related to various threatened claims and sensitive disputes.
- An Italian bank in connection with multiple years of cross-border investigations by federal and state regulators and an independent consultant related to AML controls.
