Jay Schuffenhauer is an associate in the Energy Regulatory and Transactions group at Paul Hastings and is based in the firm's Washington, D.C. office.
Jay assists clients with a broad range of energy industry matters, including cost-of-service ratemaking, wholesale power contract disputes, electric utility cooperative matters, and litigation before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Jay also assists utilities, developers, investors, and private equity sponsors in energy regulatory diligence on transactional matters.
Jay received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center in 2021, where he served as Director of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Team and as Assistant Notes Editor for the Georgetown Law Technology Review. He received a B.A. in Economics, summa cum laude, from Vanderbilt University in 2018.
Jay is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia.
