Overview

Jonathan Sarnoff is an associate in the Litigation Department at Paul Hastings and is based on the firm's New York office. His practice focuses on appellate litigation, as well as on briefing dispositive motions and other legal issues in trial courts.

Jonathan has briefed appeals in both federal and state appellate courts and has represented clients across all stages of motion practice and at trial. Prior to joining Paul Hastings, he practiced complex commercial litigation another major U.S.-based law firm in New York. Before that, he clerked for the Hon. Michael A. Chagares of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and before that, for the Hon. John P. Cronan of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Jonathan graduated from Yale Law School, where he served as an articles and essays editor on the Yale Law Journal and as a features editor on the Yale Journal of International Law. He received his undergraduate degree in philosophy from Princeton University, and while pursuing his legal education he also earned master's and doctoral degrees in philosophy from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. His scholarship has been published in the University of Chicago Law Review and the Journal of the History of Philosophy. In addition, after he completed his undergraduate degree Jonathan worked at a prominent hedge fund in New York before returning to graduate school.
