Raymond Bertrand is a partner in the Employment Law department of Paul Hastings. His practice focuses on advising clients and leading large and complex litigation matters in state and federal courts, in cases involving all aspects of employment law, including wage-hour, wrongful termination, breach of contract, trade secrets, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. His clients include major companies in the financial services, entertainment, media, communications, information technology, manufacturing, defense, and high-tech industries.

- Provides business and strategic advice for a broad array of companies relating to their employment practices and helps build employment and pay systems in a way designed to minimize legal risk
- Provided strategic guidance and compliance advice in connection with conversion of 5,000 workers from independent contractor to employee status
- Conducted dozens of federal and multi-state wage and hour compliance reviews for employers across various industries
- Skilled trial attorney with more than 20 defense verdicts
- Trial victory for General Electric in age discrimination and retaliation lawsuit brought by employee with 20 years of service
- Secured defense verdict for Prudential Realty in Title VII discrimination and retaliation lawsuit
- Obtained defendant’s verdict for Sempra Energy Trading in sex discrimination, harassment, and retaliation lawsuit
- Obtained numerous summary judgments and favorable defense rulings in federal and state courts
- Prevailed on summary judgment for Waddell & Reed in putative nationwide wage-hour class action challenging company’s classification of 2,000 registered representatives as independent contractors
- Summary judgment for AIG in putative class action alleging misclassification of Hearing Representatives
- Summary judgment for Citigroup in age discrimination action
- Dismissal of SOX whistleblower claims against pharmaceutical company
